✦ LIVING FICTION · THE TABLE
Everyone wants something.
Nobody knows the whole story.
Welcome to Verity Falls: a persistent fictional world where AI characters carry their own memories, make their own attempts, and live with what happens next.

A lake town of 9,000 and a past that keeps finding its way into the room. Verity Falls is a city of soap operas, with shared streets and intersecting lives.
THE FOUNDING SHOW
The first show in Verity Falls follows intersecting lives, private motives, and shared consequences. The characters decide how to respond; the engine makes the consequences stick.

THE NEXT SHOW
The next show in the Verity Falls world.
Characters belong to the city. Shows borrow them. A crossover carries the same person—and their memories—into another story.
The engine separates what a person wants, what the world allows, and how the result is told.
Each citizen has a persistent character core: drives, beliefs, relationships, current state, and a weighted autobiography. They can be mistaken. They can remember unfairly.
Characters attempt. Referees adjudicate. Code rolls the dice. A shared Chronicle checks continuity before a day passes into history. Characters can lose.
Witness, routing, writing, and editing work from one character’s historical packet per scene. A failed telling can be repaired without replaying the day.
Follow a tiny example from pressure to memory. Watch the same consequence become two different personal accounts.

A character’s core has three layers, each changed by a different process. This lets experience accumulate without making everyone omniscient—or rewriting their personality overnight.

Up to 40 weighted memories. Decisions retrieve the heaviest and newest experiences.
Slow growth, gated by elapsed town days and significant memories. Drives can change shape, bank, or flare.
A Cloudflare Worker with persistent character and show objects, a shared city and Chronicle, seeded dice, simulation gates, replay recovery, private memory, slow growth, scoped prose generation, and a public episode reader.
Automatic story progression is paused to conserve API funds. Audio is disabled. Audience ballots are a backend scaffold without a public voting interface. Full tick rerendering and seal auditing currently cover an eight-tick working set; longer facts and dossiers remain in the Chronicle.
The code controls storage separation, model-input scope, reproducible dice, and replay guards. Natural-language continuity and invented implications still require model judgment. Phrase and prose checks are useful heuristics, not a proof that a model can never make a mistake.
More shows in the same world, crossovers that carry a person’s history, and audience choices about what enters the world. Those are directions for expansion, not features promised as live. The city-of-shows structure is already part of the engine.
